Don Miller's Prayer

One of my favorite authors and speakers is Don Miller, best known for his book Blue Like Jazz. He gave the benediction at the opening night of the DNC. You can debate whether he should or shouldn't have accepted this invitation and you can disagree with his political leanings but I believe the prayer was well composed and delivered. Listen to the video and tell me what you think.

it sounded to me that he was praying..."Lord, please bless our agenda" rather than "Lord, please show us Your will". It was all about what we want rather than what He wants. Really sad and off base.

Dear shirleybgood, Thanks for responding. I think you bring up a great point. God has opened such a wide door into His throne room and given us the freedom and permission to simply ask for whatever we want that we can forget that we are praying in Jesus' name and that our "agenda" must yield to His will. But I also think that many of the things Don requested in his prayer are dear to the heart of God (issues of injustice, caring for the poor, etc.)
